Why do people pinch on Saint Patrick’s Day?

Started as an American Tradition in the 1700’s. Tales says, Leprechauns and other fairy creatures would pinch people they could see. Wearing green made you invisible to these creatures preventing you from being pinched. People pinch people to remind them of the Leprechaun’s sneaky little pinch.
